Best app to get stronger!

What do you get when you combine the best method to get stronger with detailed instructional videos, thorough explanations AND an actual day-to-day program? THIS APP! Finally! Perfect for both beginners and experienced lifters and worth much more than the $4.99 I paid for. Thank You Starting Strength!

Great start

Its a great app for using the starting strength program that you can take with you easily. Its the first version, and it shows a little. It can be a little weird in that it lacks a back button in some places like YouTube videos that play to completion and in some settings menus. But its highly recommended.

Not your typical gym app

This is from the oracle of strength training mr. Mark rippetoe. Hes legit. This will gradually have you lifting and training like a pro.

Starting Strength is awesome!

this app is great and long overdue ... this first patch fixed a few minor problems ... but the SS Program (and this app) is the best way to get stronger period.

Excellent beginners strength training guide

This app is a companion to a popular book that I do not own. I considered purchasing the book but I decided to buy this app instead since it was cheaper and immediately accessible. The videos, pictures and explanations are quite helpful and I am already incorporating the squat, press, bench press and dead lift in my regular workouts. I already have a dumbbell routine that Ive done for some time now but these exercise, performed correctly for the reps and sets suggested, has already greatly improved my strength. Im now adding weight slowly each visit as recommended and its fun seeing the gains. Highly recommended, especially for barbell training novices like me.

Just what I needed

Great app for tracking progress through the Starting Strength program. Intuitive and no BS. Glad they added a warmup calculator.

Great app

Highly reccomend this app if you are doing the program. It is simple and and does exactly what it needs to do. Worth the purchase!

Great App.

I started the SS method this summer and am 43 years old. This app compliments seamlessly Mark Rippetoes book- I use it for every workout. Easy to use and perfect for us novice lifters.

All you need for strength training program.

Ive tried 2-3 other apps. Ive kept paper logs. Nothing has been easier to use than this app. I couldnt figure out why I couldnt enter my warm up sets...its because you dont need to!! You enter your work set weight and it tells you exactly what to load on the warm-ups. Ill still journal, but I wont have to worry about calculating percentages anymore!!

Doesnt remember a/b workout switches

There is a bug in the app related to the a/b switch. Every workout , it thinks its a bench press workout. When I manually switch it to overhead press, it doesnt always stick and inconsistently goes back to the bench press. Super annoying.

App needs work

Overall, its a nice app, but it feels a little bit like its in beta phase. I am sure it will improve. Problems: 1) it has a warm up calculator, but its obscure. I used the app for over a month while being annoyed thinking it didnt have one. Once you know where it is, its very useful. 2) doesnt seem to be a way to share data across devices. Id like to be able to enter my workout data on my phone, and view it later on my iPad. Is that a lot to ask? Not for a $5 app its not. 3) you are forced to view your history in the form of a hard to read graph. The graph is hard to read on an iPhone, and I would prefer to just see the numbers. 4) there is no way to keep notes. Again, not much to ask in a $5 app. 5) app always forgets whether its the a workout or b workout.

Some bugs

The app keeps prompting for bench workout. Functionally, the only useful feature is the log and 4.99$ is way too much for that feature. For learning the starting strength program you are better off buying the book. Save your money and spend some money on a notebook. This app is not value for money.

Fantastic app

This is an absolutely perfect log and reference app for those following the starting strength novice progression. Easily worth the money.

Perfect companion to Starting Strength

Excellent purchase if you dont own Starting Strength, the foundational text of Mark Rippetoes training program. This app not only gives the text from the book, outlining each the program and each lift, it also has videos and a training log built in. Hands down the best app for tracking you linear progression.

Good! Sometimes slow which makes me scared Ill lose my data.

Ill update this to 5* once fixed The app is sometimes very slow, eg when viewing progress graph, which makes me feel uneasy as I have a story in my head that its possible to lose all my data. Would be nice to speed it up and have some kind of Dropbox backup for logs. Then 5* Other request: I want to be able to scroll through future training sessions to see what weight Ill be lifting just as a vanity/entertainment thing.

Bugs fixed. All is good now

I find this very useful

I love it!

The app is great. Its a very nice companion to the starting strength book. I hope they write software for adding other exercises when you reach a plateau. The app can be a little bit slow and sometimes closes.

Great app for starting strength

Everyone who is interested in strength training should read the book and then buy this app. Well worth the price.
